FAQ - Insurance and Payment
-
In Minnesota we currently accept Aetna, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, HealthPartners, Medica, Medical Assistance (Minnesota Health Care Programs), Medicare (select providers only), Optum, and TRICARE. In South Dakota we accept Wellmark.
Therapy is often covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Coverage varies quite a bit from plan to plan, so it is worth a phone call before your first session.
-
Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about your out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits. Plenty of plans cover a meaningful share of out-of-network therapy.
If you decide to move forward, let us know and we will submit the out-of-network claim to your insurer on your behalf. We can also provide receipts you can submit yourself, or send to your HSA or HRA administrator.

We cannot promise that, and neither can anyone else. Understanding your benefit plan and your coverage is ultimately your responsibility, and any estimate of coverage is an estimate, not a guarantee of coverage or payment. Your insurance company is the only one who can tell you for certain.

Yes. We accept cash, check, credit, FSA, and HSA. Some clients prefer to pay privately, and there are good reasons for it: more confidentiality, more flexibility in how we approach treatment, no insurance company influencing your diagnosis or treatment plan, and a simpler payment process. Some people just prefer to keep it separate. That is reason enough.
